Develop
strategic and operational plans, consistent with FTU’s mission and objectives,
to set the direction, targets and expectations of operational staff.
Monitor
and report on the company performance, managing any risk and opportunities
identified on a timely basis, so as to ensure that the planned performance is
achieved.
Ensure
that FTU’s key performance indicators are raised and kept in line with microfinance
industry best practices.
Work
with the Board, Management and staff to develop and refine the policies and
procedures in place, ensuring they are adapted and improved to meet the needs
of FTU, its clients and its operations at all times.
Steer,
assess and train the branch managers and their teams, taking all opportunities
to improve the standards of professionalism, service, efficiency and work
quality.
Work
with the Finance and Administration Manager to maintain the smooth and
effective running of the portfolio management, ensuring FTU’s management
information needs are effectively met.
Develop
and implement marketing plans and strategies for the company, building
awareness and demand for FTU’s products and services.
Keep on
top of trends and issues in the Uganda Microfinance industry, applying such
knowledge through the development of FTU product range
Manage
the establishment of branch offices and services in newly identified markets;
establish effective operations and achievement of agreed growth plans.
Perform
any other assigned tasks.
The
Operations Manager should possess a good university degree in business,
economics, finance or microfinance from a recognized university
At least
three years’ work experience in a senior operations management position in the
financial services industry.
Additional
postgraduate qualifications in the above fields will be an added advantage. Knowledge,
skills and experience in managing microfinance operations
Broad understanding
of portfolio management techniques
Strong
Human Resource Management and leadership skills
Excellent
understanding of microfinance best practices at local, regional and
international levels
Capacity
to work independently in developing and implementing action plans guided by the
company’s business plans and strategies
