Job Summary: The Agribusiness Officer will majorly be charged with the responsibility
of improving the economic future and quality of life of their program
beneficiaries. The ability of the Agribusiness Officer to push forward
market-driven approaches in all stages of programming will be one of the
position’s three success factors.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct market assessments, value chain
analyses, and the development of sector-focused strategies; - Recommend program priorities and explore,
evaluate and present new opportunities that with high potential for impact - Introduce the program to relevant stakeholders
including local business owners, local representatives and community
members - Ensure an integrated approach to program
implementation - Establish and maintain productive working
relationships with sub-county and district leaders - Make on-site field visits regularly to provide
technical review and/or design suggestions - Mentoring and coaching of private business
partners - Work with team leader(s) and Mercy Corps
technical staff in order to develop potential projects, - Take primary responsibility for sector-focused
data gathering - Analyze project implementation strategies to
identify constraints to program success and provide timely
recommendations; - Provide data in support of team submission of
timely reports. - Work with the MEL manager and Officer to ensure
accurate and timely flow of information from the field for entry in the
database and for preparation of PR materials - Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- The Agribusiness
Officer should possess a good University degree in business, agribusiness,
agriculture, economics or a related field - Two or more years’
professional experience. - Willingness to work
on the field - Ability to interact
effectively with a wide variety of people - Ability to evaluate
businesses and business plans - Skills in networking,
team-working, and community consultations - Excellent reporting
and communication in luo.
