Railways Corporation (URC) is a body corporate established under an Act of
Parliament to construct, operate and maintain railway, marine and road services
both inside and outside Uganda for the carriage of passengers and goods. As a
result of privatisation of operations, the mandate of URC changed from that of
an operator to that of asset holder, concession monitor and advisor on railway
technical matters.

Job Summary: The Property
Management Officer will support the Chief Civil Engineer to fulfill his
responsibilities relating to the management of the Corporation’s property

Responsibilities:

- Managing the Corporation’s property;
- Advising on the re-development of property;
- Providing technical support to the
Corporation’s Procurement and Disposal Unit during the procurement of property
professional services; - Supervision and/or management of property
professional services procured by the Corporation; - Providing the liaison and support required by
the Privatisation Unit (Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic
Development) during the disposal of the Corporation’s non-core assets; - Perform any other work relating to property
assigned by the Chief Civil Engineer.
Qualifications, Skills
and Experience:

- The Property Management Officer must hold a
Bachelor’s degree in Property Management, Land Economics or its equivalent
from a recognised institution; - Prior work experience of at least five (5)
years as a Property Manager or Land Officer or other similar position with
a busy public-sector or private-sector organisation involved substantially
in the management of property especially land; - Be fluent in MS Office and MS Project.
- Knowledge of ARCHICAD or other similar software
will be an added advantage; 4. Have excellent writing skills; - Possess the ability to work with minimum
supervision and to meet tight deadlines and on multiple tasks
simultaneously; - Be able to supervise teams at diverse locations
around the country for management and maintenance of Corporation Property;
- Possess a high level of integrity and
professional ethics.
