Electricity Transmission Company limited (UETCL) is responsible for bulk
purchase of electricity from the generating companies and selling it in bulk to
the distribution companies throughout Uganda. UETCL is also responsible for exports
and imports of electricity to Uganda. Our vision is: “To Become a leading

support sustainable energy development in Uganda.”

Job Summary: The Principal
Safety and Services Engineer will
offer quality safety, transport and engineering services to the Company.

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Update and oversee the
implementation of the Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) policy. - Conduct regular safety inspections
and audits of UETCL installations, activities and projects and accordingly
recommend improvement to ensure safety performance. - Conduct safety orientations for
Contractors and participate in public safety and wayleaves sensitization
campaigns. - Carry out incident investigations
for any reported accidents and near misses. - Conduct safety sensitizations
amongst staff to enhance safety compliance and awareness. - Conduct training for staff in the
following areas: o First Aid Applications - Fire Fighting Skills o High Voltage
Safety Competence o Defensive Driving - Prepare monthly SHE policy
implementation reports. - Develop plant & equipment
standards & specifications. - Develop a Transmission grid design,
standards and specifications manual. - Develop quality assurance systems related
to plant, equipment and services supplied to the Company. - Update and oversee the
implementation of the Transport policy. - Efficiently maintain the UETCL fleet
to facilitate the smooth execution of company activities. - Prepare monthly Transport policy
implementation reports. - Provide technical support to the
Company’s procurement function. - Develop and manage Section budgets
and resources.
Manage and supervise section staff. - Participate in Company procurement
processes - Perform any other duties as may be
assigned from time to time.

and Experience:

- The desired person should possess a
University Degree in Electrical Engineering or its equivalent
qualification. - Extensive experience in handling
safety and environment activities involving high voltage transmission
networks; managing a sizeable vehicle fleet. - Significant experience in
Transmission lines and substation works and projects. - Computer literacy skills
- Proven good supervisory and
interpersonal skills. - Proven good analytical and
communication skills. - Must be able to withstand stressful
work situations and have willingness to work for long hours outside the
official working hours. - A person of high integrity, honesty,
motivated, innovative, result oriented and a committed team player. - Prepared to drive to various project
and company sites in the country. - Possess a valid National Driving
Permit.
