Africa:
Africa encompasses Barclays Global Retail Banking, Corporate Banking, and
Barclaycard operations in 10 countries organised in four geographic areas:
North Africa (Egypt), East and West Africa (Ghana, Tanzania, Uganda and
Kenya), Southern Africa (Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe), and Indian Ocean
(Mauritius and Seychelles).
Africa serves its 2.8m customers through a network of 573 branches and service
centres providing a variety of traditional financial products including retail
mortgages, current and deposit accounts, commercial lending, unsecured lending,
credit cards, treasury and investments.
Payment Officer will facilitate the development of effective and efficient
financial reporting system which ensures accurate and timely reporting and
compliance to the regulatory authorities
Responsibilities:
- Ensure management
information/Bank of Uganda reports/returns are processed promptly and
accurately. - Maintains the Head
Office creditors’ payments (accounts payable) and the Bank’s fixed assets
system. - Processing payments
and handling cash vouchers - Passing necessary
voucher to all office expense accounts - Ensure that costs
and revenues are attributed correctly to the functions - Handling salary
payments - Assist Head of
Financial Reporting in preparation of the Group financial reports
including tax computation - Ensuring compliance
with the guidelines from the regulating bodies. - Ensure deduction of
all withholding Tax due on: - Bill
paid to external professional/royalty service providers - Rental
on business and accommodations premises - Interest
paid to clients monthly - Ensure effective and
excellent communication and working relationships with colleagues in the
department and the bank in general - Attend meetings with
Senior managers and other staff in the bank
& Experience:
- The
applicant should possess a University degree preferably in Accounting or
Finance Or a full/partial Professional qualification in Accounting - Knowledge
of Barclays Group Governance and Control Policies - Working
knowledge of the financial reporting system. - Knowledge
of the Bank’s internal control mechanism. - Strong
