USAID MSH STRIDES Jobs – Logistics Officer at Management Sciences for Health

Sciences for Health (MSH) is an international non-profit, public health
organisation with headquarters in USA, whose purpose is to strengthen health
programs worldwide. MSH Uganda is currently running a number of USAID and other
donor funded projects, both in Kampala and other parts of the country including
STRIDES for Family Health project.
STRIDES is a Reproductive Health/Family Planning and Child Survival Services
Project whose goal is to train and support health service providers across 15
selected districts in Uganda to be fully functional and deliver quality,
integrated RH/FP and CS services to more people. The STRIDES Project is
recruiting staff for its one year extension period ending February 2015.
establishing and overseeing a functional logistics/store management
system. She/ he will ensure that STRIDES donations such as long lasting
insecticide treated nets (LLINs), hygiene kits and medical equipment are managed
and systematically distributed across STRIDES collaborating districts.
Logistics Officer will ensure that logistics data including distribution and
client information is entered in a central data base, analyzed and reported on
a monthly basis. The Logistics Officer is a member of the STRIDES Extended
Management Team.
- Supervise the
store operations and management. - Approve all
requisitions from the stores and verify all requests for stock
replenishment. - Ensure that
goods received at the stores are the right quantity and quality and
accounted for. - Ensure the
maintenance of an updated STRIDES asset register and submit regular
reports using MSH standard formats. - Submit monthly
reports of lost, stolen and damaged items. - Ensure
maintenance of filed hard copy documents related to purchase of assets and
transfer agreements. - Ensure the
safety and security of the items in the store. This takes the form of
ensuring that there are adequate security systems in place to guard
against theft, fire or any form of destruction. - Prepare a
project assets disposition plan and support its implementation. - Supervise the
Logistics Associate and the Logistics Intern (s). - Any other
assignment that is consistent with the job position.
- Develop a
distribution strategy which should include a description of how
distribution of donated equipment/supplies and project assets will be
handled from the stores to the intended beneficiaries. - Plan and arrange
for transportation of donated supplies/materials/equipment. - Organize the
dispatching of supplies/materials/equipment to their final destination(s). - Ensure that
project donations such as shoes, LLINs and hygiene kits reach the final
intended beneficiary through providing monitoring support and utilization
of adequate tools. - In collaboration
with the M&E unit, ensure that logistics data including distribution
and client information is entered in a central data base, analyzed and
maintained. - Prepare monthly
distribution reports and presentations. - Attend monthly
Extended Management Team meetings.
Experience:
- The applicant
should possess a Degree in Procurement and Logistics, Business
Studies/Administration, preferably with Stores Management option, CIPS is
an added advantage - Minimum of
3 years of experience in a similar position within a busy organization - Excellent
interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to interact professionally with
clients and stakeholders - Proficiency in
Microsoft Office programs particularly Word & Excel - Firm
