Client, SOS Children’s Villages Uganda is a member of SOS Kinderdorf
International, a worldwide, independent, non-governmental social development
organization that has been working to meet the needs and protect the interests
and rights of children since 1949.
Children’s Villages Uganda is a locally registered Trust with a local governing
body: the Board of Trustees. It has been operating since 1989 and currently has
projects caring for more than 2,500 children in four locations at Kakiri,
Entebbe, Gulu and Fort Portal. The various projects include SOS Children’s
Villages, Community outreach programmes, Kindergartens, schools, medical
centres and social centres.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and budget for the internal audit plan.
- Implement the approved audit plan.
- Be accountable for internal audit’s financial resources.
- Assess and make recommendations on the effectiveness of the design
and operation of internal controls across the financial and operational
processes of the different programmes. - Promote a culture that drives adherence to policies and process as
well as responsibility and accountability for risk management and
controls. - Engage management to build risk and control awareness and to promote
a proactive control culture. - At the request of management provide advisory services.
- Provide support to external auditors to conduct audits.
- The candidate should hold a University Degree from a reputable
institution. - Full membership of an international accounting professional body
such as ACCA, CPA or CIA. - Member of the International Certified Public Accountants of Uganda
(ICPAU). - At least five years’ work experience as an Auditor with a
not-for-profit organization. - Planning and organising skills.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Effective communication including reporting skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Working knowledge of a computerised accounting software e.g. Sage
Peachtree, Navision or - QuickBooks.
- Willingness and ability to travel.
