UTB:
(UTB) is a statutory organization established by the Tourism Act, 2008. The
objectives of UTB are to promote and contribute to the development of the
tourism sector both within and outside Uganda; to coordinate with the Ministry
of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities and the private sector in the
implementation of the national tourism policy and to such activities as are
incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above objectives.
Summary: The Deputy
Executive Director (DED) is responsible for the organization’s business and
technical operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deputizes
the Executive Director and helps him/her to synchronize the technical and
administrative aspects of the various functions in the institution. - Directly
be responsible for the core technical functions of UTB and supervise the
managers. - Operationalisation
of the strategic and operational plans of UTB. - Tourism
Quality assurance, Regulation and Licensing. - Will
be responsible for executing all activities as per business, strategic
plans and monitoring their progress - Will
recommend for approve all resources for technical tasks - Will
advise Management 0 operational matters through progress reports - Will
also directly oversee the activities of the ICT unit, quality assurance
and product development - To
mainstream ICT in the technical functions of UTB. - To
regulate activities of operators in the tourism sector with a view of
quality assurance - Responsible
for monitoring and evaluation of the Institution
and Experience:
- The
candidate should possess a degree in any field relevant to tourism
promotion. A relevant post graduate qualification is an added advantage - At
least six years experience in management at a high level management
position with a successful track record of performance in a reputable organization.
- Possess
prior working knowledge and technical expertise in the field of tourism
and the tourism sector - Possess
project planning and management capabilities - Proficiency
in IT skills
