Management
Sciences for Health (MSH) is an international non-profit, public health
organisation with headquarters in USA, whose purpose is to strengthen health
programs worldwide. MSH Uganda is currently running a number of USAID and other
donor funded projects, both in Kampala and other parts of the country including
STRIDES for Family Health project and TRACKTB.
About Project:
TRACK
TB is a 5 – year USAID-funded project that started in January 2013 and ends in
2017. TRACK TB focuses on increasing Tuberculosis (TB) Case Detection Rate
(CDR) and Treatment Success Rate (TSR) in Kampala and USAID supported districts
in TB/HIV. This is aimed at meeting national targets for reducing the burden of
TB; MDR-TB and TB/HIV co infection.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • The
    job holder will act as the liaison between the Treatment centre and TRACK
    TB.
  • Identify
    capacity gaps at the treatment centers and suggest solutions.
  • The Regional Senior Technical Officers will
    primarily improve the coordination
    of the management of DR TB patients in DR TB Treatment Initiation sites.
  • Assist
    the treatment sites to prepare work plans, submit them to TRACK TB and
    monitor their implementation.
  • Ensure
    that laboratory specimens are referred to appropriate laboratories for
    processing.
  • Ensure
    availability of enablers for patients and they are properly accounted for.
  • Ensure
    that all necessary tools for are available and that registers are filled
    up-todate.
  • Ensure
    that appropriate reports are made and submitted to the Hospital ED, DHO’s
    office, ZTLS and NTLP.
  • Ensure
    that support supervision / mentorship is carried out to follow up
    facilities and to community levels.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant should hold a Degree in medicine nursing or equivalent,
  • Training
    in public health,
  • A
    minimum of three years experience including two years of clinical work
    after internship,
  • Training
    in MDR TB management and or TB Infection control will be an added
    advantage,
  • Training
    skills, with experience in support supervision and mentorship,
  • Good
    interpersonal skills, self motivated and ability to work unsupervised
