Sciences for Health (MSH) is an international non-profit, public health
organisation with headquarters in USA, whose purpose is to strengthen health
programs worldwide. MSH Uganda is currently running a number of USAID and other
donor funded projects, both in Kampala and other parts of the country including
STRIDES for Family Health project and TRACKTB.
TB is a 5 – year USAID-funded project that started in January 2013 and ends in
2017. TRACK TB focuses on increasing Tuberculosis (TB) Case Detection Rate
(CDR) and Treatment Success Rate (TSR) in Kampala and USAID supported districts
in TB/HIV. This is aimed at meeting national targets for reducing the burden of
TB; MDR-TB and TB/HIV co infection.
- The Senior Technical Officer Urban DOTS will be
responsible for implementation of activities that fall under the Urban
DOTS result area of TRACK TB Project. - Working in collaboration with KCCA and partners
under the Kampala City Tuberculosis Task Force (KCTF), s/he will provide
technical and operational support
to implementation of TB control services at diagnostic and treatment units
(DTUs) in Kampala city in order to meet the national targets for TB
control. - In close collaboration with the community
coordinator at Aids Information Centre (AIC), s/he will provide technical
and operational support towards control of
tuberculosis at community level including community DOT, TB health
education, and tracing of contacts of infectious TB cases diagnosed in
health care facilities. - Provide technical operational support
implementation of the urban DOTS model for KCCA and monitor its contribution
towards achieving the set targets. - Support the district and divisional TB control
teams in implementation of TB control activities including support
supervision, mentorship of health care workers
in TB control and preparation of quarterly performance reports. - Lead the process of implementation of SOP use
for TB case notification and quality of care at health facility level. - Identification and timely communication of
innovative approaches to TB and TB/ HIV control based on field
experiences. - In collaboration with the district divisional
and community TB control teams, identify gaps in TB, TB/HIV care at
district, divisional and health facility level that
need support and bring them to the attention of the technical advisor
Urban DOTs for necessary intervention.
- The applicant should hold an MB.Ch.B degree or
a degree in Public Health, nursing or social Work and social
Administration, community psychology, a Masters in public health will be an
added advantage, - A minimum of two years’ working experience in
TB or TB/HIV care and support at district or health facility level, - Effective interpersonal and excellent communication
and computer skills
