Summary: The Senior Officer
DRR contributes to the achievement of Disaster Risk Reduction project
objectives. He/ She shall provide ongoing capacity support and is responsible
for coordinating and implementing all the project activities. The person works
closely with partners/districts/community structures/schools, prepares plans,
field reports and monitors activity implementation on Disaster Risk Reduction.
The Senior Officer may be called upon as and when necessary to support the
emergency team in cases of humanitarian crisis.
Skills and Experience:
- The
applicant should possess a bachelor’s degree in a Health related field,
Demography or Social Sciences, Development Studies or related field or
equivalent accrued working experience, with skills and experience in Disaster
Risk Reduction, food security, livelihoods and Nutrition programming - At
least three years working experience in a related discipline in Uganda
(preferably with a NGO). - Experience
of working with local partners and District Local Government in Child
Rights Governance, Health, Nutrition, Education, HIV/AIDS or Child
Protection is an added advantage. - Strong
analytical skills and strategic planning abilities. - Ability
to establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and perform
effectively as a member of a team. - Willingness
to travel and work in hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous
conditions. - Computer
literacy skills and excellent documentation skills are a must. - Availability
and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian
responses. - Highly
developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international
environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures - Ability
to intervene with crisis management or troubleshooting as necessary. - Highly
developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing,
negotiation and coaching - Excellent
time management and planning capacity - Availability
and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian
responses.
