Education Officer, Certification
“The Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act, 2001” for
regulating and guiding the establishment and management of institutions of
higher learning, regulating the quality of higher education, equating of
qualifications and for advising government on higher education issues.
- Involved in the day to day activities of
Certification and Equating of Qualifications; - Works on the applications for
Certification and Equating of qualifications, - Supports the Senior Higher Education
Officer on matters of Certification an Equating of Qualifications; - Assists the Senior Higher Education Officer
to organize awareness workshops to inform the general public and relevant
stakeholders on the emerging issues regarding Certification and Equating
of Qualifications of higher education institutions; - Assists the Senior Higher Education
Officer in preparing disseminative reports e.g tracer studies on the
applicants for Certification and Equating of qualifications for the attention
of the Director, QA/ACC - Conducts any other duties that may be
assigned from time to time by the superiors.
- Work activity plans;
- Number of certifications carried out;
- Number of qualifications equated or
failed; - Tracer studies report;
- Publications in respective forum;
- A number of workshops successfully
organized within budgets; - Unit evaluation reports showing targets
achieved; - Documented developmental strategies;
- Documented policies and procedures of
certification and equating of qualifications.
Experience:
- Holds a Masters degree in a relevant
discipline from a recognized university; - Must have taught in a university for at
least 2 years at the level of a Lecturer and above, or must have worked in
as a Higher Education Official in a government department for 2 years; - Experience as a Dean would be an added
advantage; - Must be ICT literate;
- Must have good communication and
interpersonal skills; - Knowledge of international assessments and
examination qualifications is desirable.
