Regulatory Authority of Uganda
Reports to: Manager Legal and
Compliance
Uganda
will majorly ensure the provision of legal services and in the job compliance
with the provisions of the Insurance Act Cap 213) Laws of Uganda, 2000.
- Conduct assessments of legal implications in the Authority’s
dealings with the insurance companies, other operators who carry on other
business which falls within the purview of the Insurance Act (Cap 21`3)
Laws of Uganda, 2000 (Insurance Act) and the public. - Carefully and intuitively interpret the
Insurance Act and to assist in the enforcement together with its related
regulations as need may arise. - Assist in the running the Complaints
Bureau provided for in the Insurance Act. - Responsible for the monitoring all
enactments of laws and regulations and assess their impact on the
operations of the Authority. - Propose and/or draft the required laws.
- Offer legal advice to the Authority.
- Review insurance proposals and policy
forms. - Conduct any other duties as may be
assigned from time to time.
Experience:
- The candidate should hold an Honors LLB
Degree with a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal practice - A minimum of three (3) years’ experience
in legal practice, (legal drafting and/or civil litigation) in a reputable
firm/organisation. - Excellent computer literacy skills.
- Possess the ability to work under minimum
supervision. - Good analytical and interpretation skills
- Good planning and organizing skills
