agricultural landscapes and rural livelihoods. As part of the Centres work to bring
tree-based solutions to bear on poverty and environmental problems. researchers
– working in close collaboration with partners – are developing new
technologies, tools and policy recommendations for increased food security and
ecosystem health. The Centre’s headquarters are located in Nairobi. Kenya, and
research is conducted in 23 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America We are

Job Summary: The Finance and
Administrative Assistant will be responsible for the execution of day to day
financial and administrative duties to the ICRAF Uganda Office.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Finance:
- Produce monthly financial reports with
accompanying data for Uganda Office
Maintain petty cash and bank accounts - Perform monthly reconciliations and
prepare monthly expenditure forecasts
Ensure financial ethics and accountability of all ICRAF staff (Follow-up
on staff advances) - Follow-up on all collaborators and
partners to ensure that the accounting is received. - Oversee national staff salary and benefits
payments, manage imprest and submit monthly statutory deductions to the
relevant authorities - Check and verify all financial
transactions, review payments request , purchase orders , and contracts
for accuracy and integrity before approval by the supervisor - Assist with the preparation and monitoring
of country budgets - Liaise and advice country teams on
expenditure levels of their respective projects - Follow up to ensure timely submission of
reports (both financial and technical) - Ensure year-end audit requests are
submitted as and when requested (bank confirmations, bank statements,
reconciliations etc) - Follow up and ensure internal audit
recommendations are implemented and adhered to.
2. Administration:
- Coordinate administrative issues for
Uganda Office in collaboration with the regional office - Advise and ensure local contracts are in
compliance with Ugandan laws - Provide advice and support for visiting
scientists and students to acquire necessary work permits in compliance
with existing Ugandan laws - Handle procurement and inventory of assets
- Oversee management of office premises
- Organise meetings, workshops and
conferences (travel coordination, airfare, budgets, logistics etc) - Take minutes and keep record of staff
meetings.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The candidate should possess a Bachelor of
Commerce/Business Administration or a relevant degree. - At least CPA 2 or relevant
Financial/Accounting management qualification with a good understanding of
budgeting and financial management practices. - Proficiency in database applications and
MS office suite. - The prospective job holder should posses at
least 3 years professional experience in the field of Accounting or
Finance with administration in an NGO setting. - Excellent analytical, organizational and
planning skills. - Good English communication skills, both
written and spoken. - Exceptional attention In detail.
- Team player and highly motivated.
