Summary: The Training
and Development Specialist will offer technical support in training and
development for a proposed US Department of Labor (USDOL) program to help Ugandan youth develop the skills to secure decent work and to serve as
civic leaders in their communities. The Training
and Development Specialist will be responsible for building districts, civil
society capacity and community systems within the Program. In addition, be
responsible for the stakeholder’ coordination, referral mechanisms development;
other organizational capacity building, training of lower level implementers,
and working with the Community- Based Services Department (CBSDs) on support
supervision of the local NGOs, CBOs and other key stakeholders.
Skills and Experience:
- At
least three years experience in a leadership position responsible for
developing livelihoods, training, and development interventions. - Experience
with the technical aspects related to the Applicant’s proposed strategy,
including skills training, employment generation, entrepreneurship,
alternative/additional income generation, youth employment, and social
protection, as applicable. - Experience
in projects promoting leadership development. - Good
understanding of youth empowerment and development issues. - Experience
working successfully with government agencies and private organizations engaged
in promoting youth empowerment and development, including the provision of
livelihoods and social services. - Experience
working with employers’ organizations, trade unions, or other civil
society organizations.
