Key Duties and responsibilities:
- Offer legal advisory and interpretation
services to Management and Council to ensure statutory compliance with
existing laws and regulatory requirements - Assess and draft contracts, agreements and
internal policies and ensure that they are in compliance with all
statutory or legal requirements - Review progress of outstanding litigation
and liaise with and manage external lawyers - Gradually monitor compliance with
statutory obligations and advise management - Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for
the consideration of Management - Prepare, negotiate, review and draft
documentation for business transactions and prepare and advise management
in compliance with all statutory or legal requirements - Offer legal protection and risk management
advice to Management especially on contract management - Follow-up and update Management on court
matters and attending court hearings for and on behalf of the University. - Review and advise on MOUs between KAB and
other organizations - Perform any other duties that may be
assigned from time to time by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:
- The candidate should hold a Bachelor of
Laws degree from a recognized institution - A Diploma in Legal practice or its
equivalent from a reputable institution - The applicant should also be an enrolled
Advocate of the High Court of Uganda. - Three or more years experience in a
responsible position in medium sized organization.
