Uganda
working in the field of disability arid development CSU is a member of the
Leonard Cheshire Disability Global Alliance, a membership of over 55 countries.
CSU works with and for Persons with Disabilities through four thematic
programme areas of Livelihood, Inclusive Education, Advocacy and campaign and
Health and rehabilitation. CSU has been selected by the Girls Education
Challenge (GEC) to receive DFID funding to design a project to effect
long-lasting and transformative change for girls with disabilities in Kampala
district. The project will support girls with disabilities to enroll and
demonstrate learning and retention in mainstream primary schools. CSU will in
the next five months develop the project further basing on the baseline to be
conducted. CSU therefore wishes to recruit a highly qualified and sett
motivated team to deliver the project upon final approval for implementation.
Officer-Inclusive will give technical support to the project team on girl
education, inclusive education and generally education.
- Support the development of the inclusive
education teacher training guide. - Facilitate capacity building training of
stakeholders including; Parents, Learning Assistants, Local Leaders and
Education Authorities. - Participate in the assessment of the
education and disability needs of girls with disabilities. - Plan for timely enrolment of girls with
disabilities in both lower and upper primary. - Support school to adjust the delivery of
the curriculum to suit children with disabilities. - Periodically monitor the implementation of
the learning assessment tool kit. - Periodically monitor the learning process
and retention of girls with - Provide continuous guidance and support to
learning Assistants and ensure that they are on track. - Support the school authorities to design
and implement Individual Education Plans for girls. - Support the development of accessible
learning and teaching materials. - Prepare and submit activity and monthly
reports to the Project Manager for review.
Experience:
- The project officer should hold a Degree
in Education, Special and Inclusive Education, Community Based
Rehabilitation, Social Science, Development studies. - A Post Graduate in education related field
will be an added advantage. - A minimum of two years of relevant in implementing
education projects. - Experience working in the development
organization and field work experience an asset. - Previous knowledge in gender mainstreaming
required.
