AWE-UNC:
Education (AWE Uganda National Chapter) is an autonomous organization
established in September 2005 soon after the United Nations World Submit for
Social Development held in Copenhagen Denmark by a group of college teachers
who believed in teaming ourselves and our communities was most effective and
satisfying when education reflected an awareness at our intimate relationship
to world as a whole. The aim of AWE- UNC program
is to create community awareness of their democratic rights, duties and
responsibilities and enable them to demand for their rights as citizens of the
country (Uganda) from the duty holders and at the same time engage positively
and effectively in the process of decision making. The organization currently
is engaging in program of Participation in Democracy and Good Governance with
emphasis on empowering communities to effective and informed participation in
positive engagement with the duty bearers in development. The planned period is
initially to run from January 2013 to December 2015 with possibility of
extension.
Summary: The Program
Officer is responsible for all matters related to the component of the project
on “Promoting Good Governance and Accountability”. S/he will execute
her/his tasks in full collaboration with other programmes and administrative
staff, and in line with the organization’s established rule and regulations.
The officer should possess technical expertise in one or more of the following
areas: Good Governance Democracy
promotion, Local interviews. Governance and community engagement.
Skills & Experience:
- A
Bachelor’s Degree in Development
Studies, Social Sciences, and any other related discipline with
familiarity on Local Governance, Good Governance and Social
Accountability. - At
least three years of experience working with Civil Society Organizations. - Experience
and ability to engage and work closely with the community is an added
advantage. - Strong
organizational, administrative, analytical skills and human resource management
skills Experience & skills in planning, proposal writing, M&E and
reporting - Ability
to develop and implement effective work plans. - Ability
to manage and priorities demanding work load - Commitment,
accountability, transparency & responsibility - Excellent
public speaking, interpersonal, communication skills and ability to work
with diverse people and partners.
