Summary:
The Maintenance
Officer/Handyman is responsible for smooth and sustainable maintenance of
Embassy property. He/she will carry out simple maintenance him/herself and
ensure that for more complicated maintenance the most cost effective external
firm is selected.
Key
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Repairing
    and replacing parts of installations in and contents of the Embassy
    building and/or residences of diplomatic staff and maintaining the grounds
    belonging to the building and/or Residences of diplomatic staff.
  • Repairing
    simple breakdowns and defects, carrying out simple repairs and making
    proposals to call in external firms
  • Ensuring
    sufficient supply of diesel for generators at Residences of diplomatic
    staff.
  • Doing
    simple shopping (for office requisites, housekeeping items, etc.).
  • Helping
    with internal removals.
  • On
    occasion processing outgoing mail.
  • On
    occasion, covering drivers’ and office attendants’ duties
  • Supervise
    and monitor implementation of maintenance repairs and other services by
    external companies
  • Source
    quotations for maintenance/repairs/other services .
  • He/she
    is able to work independently, has relevant education and experience, is
    flexible and has a high degree of integrity.
  • He/she
    is a good communicator.
     
Qualifications,
Skills & Experience:
  • High
    degree of integrity
  • At
    least Ordinary Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Advanced
    knowledge of English language, both oral and written
  • At
    least 3 years practical experience with reputable organisation in the
    fields of electricity and plumbing
  • Must
    be able to maintain electrical installations
  • Must
    have valid driving permit for both car and motorbike
  • Be
    able to work long hours on occasion
  • Be
    able to work independently as well as in a team
  • Knowledge
    of safety regulations and the prescribed procedures.
  • Skill
    in using tools and simple equipment
  • Knowledge
    of cleaning techniques and products.
