About UWA:
Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) is a semi-autonomous agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities. UWA was established in 1996 and is managed in accordance with the Wildlife Act Cap 200. The Mission of UWA is: To Conserve and Sustainably Manage the Wildlife and Protected Areas of Uganda in Partnership with Neighboring Communities and Other Stakeholders for the Benefit of the People of Uganda and the Global Community.
Job Summary: The Deputy Director Human Resource will lead the development and implementation of HRM policies and procedures within UWA’s framework of strategic policies and guidelines. The Human Resources Director guides and manages the overall provision of Human Resources services, policies, and programs for the entire organization.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops organization strategies by identifying and researching
- Human Resources issues; contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to organization strategic thinking and direction; establishing Human Resources objectives in line with organizational objectives.
- Implements Human Resources Strategies by establishing Department Accountabilities, including talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, compensation, health and welfare benefits, training and development, records management, safety and health, succession planning, employee relations and retention.
- Oversee Human Resources operations by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining staff; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing staff job contributions; maintaining compensation; determining production, productivity, quality, and customer service strategies.
- Give technical support to management by providing Human Resources advice, counsel, and decisions; analyzing information and applications.
- Guides management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines; communicating and enforcing organization values.
- Ensuring development and implementation of HRM policies and procedures within UWA‘s framework of strategic policies and guidelines.
- Providing guidance on HR issues and employment matters in line with Uganda labour Laws and UWA’s strategic plan.
- Ensuring and implementation effective performance management systems to ensure that each employee, job performance is continuously monitored measured against realistic targets.
- Develop an effective remuneration structure that is directly linked to employee performance in order to attract, motivate, and retail high caliber employees
- Ensuring Counseling staff on job related/personnel needs and problems to enable them improve their performance.
- Carryout any other official dusty assigned by management from time to time
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The Deputy Director should hold a Master’s degree from a recognized University in Human Resource Management, Law or MBA, specializing in Human Resource Management.
- Ten years working experience in the field of Human Resource in a very busy Government or private organization and Five years this must have been at a Senior Level
- Be able to think creatively and strategically
- Good Analytical and decision making skills
- Good Negotiation and communication skills
- Excellent people management skills
- Management of meetings and report writing skills
Age limit: 30-45 years
