UC-CCU:
Uganda Crane Creameries
Cooperative Union Limited (UC-CCU) is a farmers’ organisation whose main
objective is to promote dairy farmer cooperatives, support their efforts to
improve dairy farming, processing and marketing within the region and
collaborate with other stakeholders in the dairy sector in Uganda. UCCCU
received funding from European Union and technical support from IFAD through WE
EFFECT (former Swedish Cooperative Centre). UCCCU is to implement the
Enhancement of Farmer Integration in Dairy Value Chain (EFID) project in the
South western region for three years.
Job
Summary: The dairy
marketing and promotional officer will be assigned to market and promote dairy
products under UCCCU including assisting member unions and primary cooperative
societies to diversify their raw milk market.
Key
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead
    coordinator in marketing and promoting UCCCU members’ farmers’ milk both
    at union and society level.
  • Formulate
    and implement a suitable marketing plans to serve a variety of milk market
    segments Lead the cooperative interventions to promote a milk drinking
    culture in schools and other institutions.
  • Develop
    linkages to the market between the dairy cooperatives and customers
  • Contributing
    articles to the annual dairy year magazine and other relevant marketing
    and promotional materials related to dairy products.
  • Any
    other duties that may be assigned by the project manager.     
Qualifications,
Skills & Experience:
  • A
    Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Business Studies with a bias in
    Marketing; Bsc. Applied Human Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Experience
    in marketing and promotional dairy products will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge
    of basic, applied human nutrition is desirable.
  • Proficiency
    in computer applications of word, excel and internet.
  • Possession
    of a valid Ugandan driving permit with Classes A and B (EAU) is desirable.
  • Strong
    organizational and planning skills.
  • Motivated
    and have strong drive to succeed
  • Ability
    to work with minimum supervision.
  • Team
    player with integrity.
  • Excellent
    communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Coordination
    skills
  • Knowledge
    of the local language-Runyankole, Rukiga is an added advantage
Age: 25 — 40 years
