Asia. Malaria Consortium works with communities, government and non-government
agencies, academic institutions, and local and international organisations, to
ensure good evidence supports delivery of effective services, providing
technical support for monitoring and evaluation of programmes and activities
for evidence-based decision-making and strategic planning. The organisation
works to improve not only the health of the individual, but also the capacity
of national health systems, which helps relieve poverty and support improved
economic prosperity. In Uganda, the Malaria Consortium has a large malaria
prevention portfolio and is responsible for the effective distribution of very
large numbers of long lasting insecticide treated mosquito nets.
Summary: The Accounts
Officer – GL maintain complete, accurate and timely data on the financial
system for Malaria Consortium Uganda
Duties & Responsibilities:
Finance:
- Check
activity advance payment requests, identifying unrealistic requests, and
suspicious accountabilities. - Making
sure that Malaria Consortium financial regulations are followed. - Support
to field offices in organising advance transfers and reconciling the bank
accounts - Advising
the Financial Accountant on the arising financial matters and sharing
areas of concern suggesting solutions - Support
the Management Accountant in orienting the new staff Malaria Consortium
sub-offices on management of activity advances. - Assist
the Financial Accountant as necessary with bank reconciliations - Invoice
staff on a monthly basis for private phone and fax use - Follow
up the stock balance of Malaria Consortium financial documents (checks,
vouchers etc) and make a timely order before stock out occurs - Post
any advances to partners to the partner ledger and ensure settlement and
accountability of advances.
Supplier
Invoices: Post all
supplier invoices to the purchase ledger
Operations: In -charge of collating timesheets of
the relevant staff members and making monthly reports on time for the different
projects Other duties as required by the Financial Accountant
Skills & Experience:
- A
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting - At
least one year’s working experience
- Knowledge
of NGO sector - Good
interpersonal and communication skills - Attention
to detail Working knowledge of accounting software - Good
analytical skills - Good
excel and other software skills
