of GOAL’S three strategic sectors, namely; Health (including WASH, HIV and
Health Accountability Programming) and livelihoods. GOAL Uganda plans to
implement (through direct collaboration with other INGOs) an Emergency WASH
programme in the South Western Districts of Kisoro and Kamwenge in response to
the influx of Congolese refugees. This is a short term emergency protect
focusing on sanitation and hygiene promotion in Rwamwanja settlement in
Kamwenge, Uganda.
manager will manage GOAL’S Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) programme to
achieve GOAL’S Programme objectives; sustainable water and good hygiene and
sanitation practices of the people of Bugiri/Namayingo. GOAL works through
Partners on the Ground like;
- National CBO/NGO delivering Services, training,
and behavior change activities. - Coordinating and supporting the Bugiri
/Namayingo district water office. - Capacity building and supporting the hand
pump mechanics Association.
- University degree at Masters Level in
Public Health, Environmental Health, Social sciences or related
discipline. - Experience may substitute for
qualifications, but not the other way round. - Training in project planning and
management, community approaches or behaviour change. - Minimum of two years actual project
management experience with a strong focus on hygiene promotion and
capacity building. - Previous experience of, implementing
projects through local partners on time and within budget. - Demonstrated monitoring and evaluation
skills. - Proven capacity to supervise, train and
coach staff In WASH technical skills. - Ability to write clear and well-argued
assessment and project reports. - The capacity and willingness.to be
extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure
working circumstances. - Working familiarity with CLTS methodology.
- Working familiarity with pump mechanics
associations. - Working familiarity with WASH hardware and
engineering. - Experience of working for international
organisations and international NGOs. - Working knowledge of major donors
government development agencies. - Engineering degree or diploma.
- Experience of preparing successful funding
proposals for donors.
