Associates through USAID funded Strengthening Health Outcomes through the
Private Sector (SHOPS) project in partnership with the Clinton Health Initiatives
(CHAI) seek to significantly increase the number of children under five with
diarrhoea receiving Oral Rehydration Therapy o Salts (ORT /ORS) and Zinc for
the treatment through private sector channels so as to reduce diarrhoea-related
morbidity and mortality.
Job Summary: The Training Coordinator will take lead the implementation of a country
wide district level training program for drug shop vendors.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Create
    the overall   training  plan
    including  training  schedules for the  whole
     country.
  • Liaise
    with District Assistant Drug Inspectors (DADIs) through the District
    Health Officers’ office to agree on venue, date and time of trainings.
  • Liaise
    with DADIs to perform the necessary outreach to all registered drug shop
    owners in each district and how to mobilise them to participate in
    trainings.
     Share a monthly activity work plan  and budget with
     the  SHOPS  Country program. Coordinator at Abt Associates
    Inc. by 25th  of every  month.
  • Lead
    implementation of training program in all districts in the country.
  • Prepare
    all administrative, logistical and financial matters prior to the
    trainings.
  • Supervise
    and manage a national team of  trainers
  • Monitor
    the implementation of an effective training program in the districts
    by conducting regular field visits.
  • Write
    and submit timely narrative and financial reports at month end to NDA,
    Abt. Associates and CHAI concerning the trainings.
  • Do
    reporting to the SHOPS Coordinator every week on finances and program
    interventions.
  • Perform
    any other duties as instructed by the Coordinator.
Qualifications,
Skills & Experience:
  • The
    candidate must have a  bachelors  degree  or its equivalent
     in a  medical  field  from a  recognized
     institution
  • Prior
     experience  leading  a large  training  program
     specifically  among private sector health  workers
  • Ability
     to work  under  pressure and  on strict deadlines
     in a  demanding environment
  • Accuracy
     and attention to  detail
  • Excellent
    verbal and written communication skills and communicate effectively with
    a wide range of people.
  • Experience
    working with district health teams.
  • Computer
    literacy especially Microsoft Powerpoint.
