Strategic Communication in Health and Development (AfriComNet)
Development (AfriComNet) is an association of health and development
communication practitioners, who reside, work or have a primary interest in
Africa AfriComNet supports the collection and sharing of health communication
resources and supports health communication capacity strengthening activities
for its members. The Network’s mission is to strengthen capacity in, and
commitment to strategic communication for health and development in Africa.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a documented system of accounting
policies and procedures for the Secretariat. - Support the Secretariat to identify and
procure an appropriate accounting package and accurately enter financial
transactions and update regularly with current balances - Assist with end-of-month financial
reconciliations and reporting. - Maintain Petty Cash & Bank Cash
Registers and ensure reconciliations are done in a timely manner - Ensure entries posted in Cash and Bank
Cash Registers have appropriate budget codes - Ensure sufficient pipeline of Bank Funds
and Petty Cash at all times. - Prepare pay roll, track accrued leave and
ensure timely payment of PAYE and NSSF - Assist with preparation of budgets,
- Prepare checks for approval and
disbursement as per AfriComNet finance policies and procedures - Develop and maintain proper filing system
for easy accessibility of documents. - Develop administrative procedures for the
Secretariat Assist with travel arrangements for staff in accordance with
AfriComNet travel policies and procedures. - Establish and maintain proper filing and
administrative controls. - Assist as needed during preparation for
workshops, trainings and meetings. - Assist with other activities as directed
by his/her supervisor.
Experience:
- The Finance and Administration Officer
should have a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, or Business
Administration and at least 3 years related experience, preferably with a
US government funded project or organization. - Strong computerized accounting and
financial skills. - Knowledge of QuickBooks is an advantage;
- Strong analytical and result-oriented
skills, - High standards of integrity;
- Honest and able to manage and account for
funds accurately; - Related previous experience a must,
transcripts and three professional references to the AfriComNet office.
