Sanitation Officer (3 Vacancies)
Reports to: Senior Environmental Sanitation
Officer
The Water and Sanitation Development Facility (WSDF) is a funding mechanism of
the Ministry of Water and Environment for water and sanitation investments at
community level. The activities implemented under the Water and Sanitation
Development Facility Program includes water supply infrastructure development
(new investment, rehabilitation, and major extensions), a comprehensive
software and sanitation promotion program in small towns and rural growth
centre’s.
- Maintain environmental sanitation data and
related developments in the region, including spot checking the validity
of issues in Consultant’s reports - Participate in evaluation of the
environmental sanitation situation in the target Rural Growth Centres
(RGCs) at the time of application, identify the necessary interventions to
improve the situation and carry out follow up surveys. - Participate in preparation of Terms of Reference
(ToR) and Request for Proposals (RFPs) to guide designers and implementers
on Environmental sanitation activities required. - Participate in review of the Environment
Impact Assessment (EIA) reports and Environment Monitoring Plans (EMPs)
developed by the Design Engineer and make recommendations on mitigation
measures for the facilities during construction and operation of the
facilities. - Assist in assessment of achievement of
sanitation goals. - Prepare and carryout sanitation related
activities for the WSDF regional Branch in collaboration with other
relevant disciplines. - Support the Small Towns/Rural Growth Centres
(STs/RGCs) in designing, implementing and safeguarding catchment
protection measures, waste water disposal measures and mitigation plans
during implementation. - Participate in preparation of Evaluation reports,
highlighting progress in the implementation of Sanitation activities and
recommending areas requiring redress - Carryout any other duties as may be
assigned from time to time.
Experience:
- A Bachelor of Science Degree in
Environmental Health Science/Public Health or related field from a
recognized University/ Institution. - At least one (1) year experience in a
related field will be an added advantage.
