UNAIDS:
Nations Programme on HIV and AIDS, that brings together the efforts and
resources of UN Agencies and aims to advance global progress in achieving
country set targets for Universal Access to HIV Prevention, treatment, care and
support and to halt and reverse the spread of HIV and contribute to achievement
of the Millennium Development Goals by 2015. The UNAIDS Country Office in
Uganda coordinates coherent action on HIV and AIDS within the UN System through
the UN Theme Groups, and the Joint Programme on HIV and AIDS In addition the
Country Office helps mount and support an expanded response to HIV and AIDS by
engaging the efforts of many sectors and partners from government, civil
society and the international development community.
Summary: The Assistant
will provide administrative and secretarial support.
Duties & Responsibilities:

- Monitor
the contractual status of staff, drawing contract ending dates to the
attention of the supervisor in a timely manner; - Initiate
extensions where necessary, monitor due dates of performance evaluation
reports, and coordinate travel and leave calendar
- Participate
in the harmonization of administrative and management systems within the
office/team, sharing experiences and lessons learnt with others; - Coordinating
quarterly travel plans; and handling all aspects of travel arrangements
for the Country Coordinator and other staff/consultants. - Perform other related
duties as assigned; including replacing and backstopping for others as
required.
& Experience:
- Completion of secondary school,
complemented by secretarial training, including training in ICDL
(International Computer Driving License Core Certification. Higher
education. - A minimum of 5 to 7 years’
experience in secretarial positions, including experience in dealing with
administrative issues and some experience In UNAIDS or WHO, roles and
procedures - Experience In the UN System and in
the use of the ERP system - Excellent knowledge of the English
language together with the local language. - Knowledge of another UN official
language.

with computer software; - Sound knowledge of UN administrative
roles, regulations, procedures and practices; - Ability to work In teams;
