AHF Uganda:
AIDS Healthcare Foundation
(AHF) is an international not for profit NGO, with its Headquarters based in
Los Angeles California, and is the largest community-based provider of HIV
treatment and care in the United States of America.
AHF registered in Uganda as AHF-Uganda Cares, is collaboration between the
Ministry of Health and AIDS Healthcare Foundation (U.S.A) to provide free
HIV/AIDS services; including antiretroviral therapy in resource constrained
settings.
AHF-Uganda Cares to date operates in 15 districts including; Masaka, Kampala,
Rakai, Mpigi, Lyantonde, Soroti, Lwengo, Bukomansimbi, Kalungu, Amuria,
Butambala, Gomba, Serere, Hoima and Tororo and supporting 21 clinic sites
across Uganda.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- S/he
plans and forecasts for program drugs and medical supplies (including
laboratory commodities and medical equipment) - Job
holder receives and verifies drugs and medical supplies delivered to the
central stores - S/he
ensures timely delivery and adequate stocks of drugs and medical supplies
in all sites. - Provide
information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage
and proper medication storage. - Participates
in staff capacity building through staff training, support supervision and
mentorship activities. - Advise
procurement team on the selection of medication brands, medical equipment
and health-care supplies. - Analyze
prescribing trends to monitor patient compliance and to prevent excessive
usage or harmful interactions. - Collaborate
with other health care professionals to plan, monitor, review, and
evaluate the quality and effectiveness of drugs and drug regimens,
providing advice on drug applications and characteristics. - Publish
educational information and provide continuing medical education for other
pharmacy staff, doctors, and/or patients
Qualifications,
Skills & Experience:
- The
minimum requirement is a Bachelor degree in Pharmacy, from a recognized
university or its equivalent. Courses that are not a B.Pharm degree must
clearly demonstrate that the holders of such degrees can practice as
Pharmacists in the country where the qualifications were attained, and candidates
should attach copies of notarized academic documents from country of
study. - A
minimum of three years working experience of which two must be in HIV
related field. - A
demonstrable skill in use of computerized / electronic Logistics
management systems is required. - S/he
must be registered by the pharmaceutical society of Uganda or its
equivalent; if trained and practicing outside the country.
