Title: Finance Manager
Reports
to: Managing Director
Duty
Station: Nsambya, Kampala, Uganda
Radio Sapientia:
Radio Sapientia Limited is
a company wholly owned by the Uganda Episcopal Conference, an umbrella
organization for all the Catholic Bishops in Uganda. It operates a radio from
its headquarters within the complex of the Catholic Secretariat at Nsambya.
Summary: The job holder
will be charged with;
·
Safeguarding
Company’s assets by developing and maintaining an effective finance and accounting
function.
·
To
maintain accurate financial and accounting records and provide the Board of
Directors and management with reports and information for performance evaluation,
planning and decision making.
Duties and responsibilities:
·
Planning,
supervising and coordinating all activities in the finance department and
providing professional and administrative guidance and advice to management.
·
Receiving,
interpreting and executing all finance decisions made by the Board of Directors
and as directed by the Managing Director.
·
Compiling
annual estimates and, through the Managing Director, presenting to the Board of
Directors for approval.
·
Preparing
statements showing the Company’s performance and financial position.
·
Developing
and maintaining an efficient system of budgetary control.
·
Maintaining
all accounting and financial data and systems necessary to record all
transactions of the Company in accordance with generally accepted international
accounting standards and the provisions of the Companies Act.
·
Ensuring
that all accounting procedures and documents are adhered to safe guard
Company’s assets.
·
Ensuring
that all revenues dues to the company are properly recorded, banked and
accounted for.
·
Ensuring
that all expenditures are properly and genuinely authorized and accounted for.
·
Ensuring
that Government taxes are paid on time and other statutory deductions made at
the source are properly accounted for and paid.
·
Appraising
all proposed capital projects and investments.
·
Preparing
and presenting the financial statements.
Skills & Experience:
- Should
possess a degree in finance and accounting. - Should
be a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda or
other recognized professional Accountancy body. - A
postgraduate degree or diploma in business administration will be an added
advantage. - Should
possess computer skills relevant to the job. - Should
have relevant working experience of at least five (5) years of which three
(3) should be in a managerial position in a medium sized company.
