The Department for International Development (DFID) is leading the British Government’s fight against world poverty. Our client DFID Uganda seeks to recruit dynamic, experienced and adaptable individuals to join its Country team.

Job Summary: The DPM will be the project officer responsible for the implementation of a number of projects/programmes and contribute to policy discussions, the influencing agenda and meeting corporate communications and reporting requirements. They will also effectively use DFID systems to manage projects, monitor progress and risks, manage and monitor project/programme finances accurately plus evaluate and report on project results.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Effectively manage a range of large and complex programmes, ensuring results and value for money.
  • Contribute to the design and appraisal of new projects/programmes and provide procedural guidance in accordance with DFID procedures.
  • Manage all operational/implementation aspects of programme management – determine priorities and agree on ways of working with lead advisers.
  • Attend conferences, workshops and meetings on behalf of/in the absence of Lead Adviser and clarify DFID’s policy objectives when required.
  • Provide information to the Departmental Finance Officer that will feed into financial corporate returns.
  • Ensure all information on the Programme Management electronic system is up to date and accurate.
  • Ensure all projects/programmes are in line with corporate guidance: Due Diligence, fraud and risk, etc
  • Contribute to policy discussions and submissions.
  • Ensure all public facing documents for your projects are in line with DFID’s transparency guidelines.
  • Support the corporate communication agenda, including but not limited to branding, Parliamentary Question’s and Ministerial Correspondence related to your projects.
 Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
  • A Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Business Administration or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years experience in a programme or projects management/ administration role
  • Experience of working with Government, multi-lateral agencies and development partners to identify problems/obstacles and develop/implement practical solutions.
  • Knowledge of Project Cycle Management
  • Strong financial management knowledge and experience.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team to deliver results.
  • Self starter who is able to take and see through delegated decisions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
