Company Secretary / Head of Administration Job at Uganda Reinsurance Company Limited (Uganda Re)

About Uganda Re:
Uganda Reinsurance Company Limited (Uganda Re) is a national company
whose objective is to promote re-insurance in Uganda.
Job Summary:
  • ·        
    Support Board of Directors in the implementation
    of their oversight over the administration of Uganda Re.
  • ·        
    You will be in-charge of Human Resource and
    Administration of the company.
  • ·        
    Guide and give direction to the Legal and
    Compliance duties of Uganda Re.

Key Duties &
Responsibilities:
1.      Company Secretarial Duties:
  • ·        
    Develop and promote best Corporate Government
    practices for adoption and implementation by the Board and Management.
  • ·        
    Provide effective company secretarial services
    to the Board.
  • ·        
    Providing cost effective legal and compliance
    advisory services to Board and management.
  • ·        
    Effectively manage, source and monitor external
    legal services and ensure effective representation in the Courts of Law.
  • ·        
    Ensure Compliance with the regulatory
    authorities including submitting timely reports to Insurance Authority of
    Uganda.
  • ·        
    Maintain an accurate and authentic track of
    Uganda Re’s Assets and Securities.
  • ·        
    Give technical legal support to business and
    operations divisions in a timely provision amidst the set objectives.

2.     HR & Administration Duties:
  • ·        
    Execute policies and strategies for Company
    staffing management; HR & Admin goals and strategic objectives.
  • ·        
    Preparation of budgets and follow-up on HR &
    Administration operations.
  • ·        
    Design and Oversee all systems of administration
    including company mail registry for both in-coming and out-going.
  • ·        
    Manage the procurement of company items.
  • ·        
    Manage guest and staff welfare processes.
  • ·        
    Manage the implementation of the Company
    calendar.
  • ·        
    Take lead in the implementation of Company’s
    branding and external imaging.
  • ·        
    Any other duties as given by Chief Executive
    Officer.

Qualifications, Skills &
Experience:
  • ·        
    A minimum of a Bachelors of Law (Honors) Degree.
  • ·        
    Postgraduate diploma in Legal Practice.
  • ·        
    7 years experience with 3-5 in a senior managerial
    position in a reputable insurance or similar institution.
  • ·        
    Technical and professional knowledge and
    practice of insurance essential.
  • ·        
    Demonstrate experience in Company secretarial
    practices and corporate governance.
  • ·        
    LLM, MBA or ICSA are ad advantage.
  • ·        
    Good understanding of the Insurance environment
    within and outside Uganda.

Age: 29-45 years.
