About WRAug:
White Ribbon Alliance Uganda is a grassroots organization working with others to reduce infant and mortality in Uganda. Our objective is to contribute in achieving MDGs 4 and 5. Our programs support various key stakeholders in achieving these goals.
Job Summary: The Communications Officer will be charged with ensuring clear and consistent messaging is delivered to all key internal and external stakeholders more so in a timely manner.
 
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
·    Lead on strategic  communications  plan  in support  of the nations  advocacy objectives , including developing  and delivering  specific products.
·    Develop and implement  media plan.
·    Maintain regular  communication  with  WRA  Uganda  members .
·    Support  National  Coordinator ,champions and members  in messaging  and communication platforms.
·         Support the Project manager in writing and documenting reports.
·         Collect, collate and send stories from national and sub-national levels to the Global Secretariat for dissemination to both the regional and global media and donors.
·         Support project communication with key stakeholders particularly government ministries and other Alliance members.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
·    Minimum of  Bachelor’s degree in  mass  communications, journalism, international development , business administration, or other  related field  required; post graduate degree in a related  field preferred.
·    Minimum 5 Years experience in delivering effective communication for advocacy initiatives preferably in maternal / child health in Uganda.
·    Experience developing and implementing communications plans.
·    Ability to intuitively target audiences and develop appropriate tactics and products to appeal to each of them
·    Experience in working with the local press and media generally.
·    Demonstrated experience   developing  and producing  professional ,high-quality, targeted, and high –impact communications, such  as  reports , briefs and films , brochures and websites .
·    Experience in writing successful program reports in at least 2 of the following; US government donor program reports, Government related donor reports, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation reports or reports from foundations of similar reputation.
·    Experience in developing and designing written content for advocacy communications.
·    Proficiency in using Social Media to drive innovative approaches and build online presence.
·    Age;  Not more than  55 years .
