CIAT is seeking to recruit highly motivated individuals to join the team at the Kampala Office. The individuals should be capable of serving a multicultural and multidisciplinary team. The positions will be based at the National Agricultural Research Laboratories- Kawanda.

Job Summary: The Projects Officer has the responsibility of providing project administrative support to the PABRA and SSACP and other projects by ensuring that procedures are in place for the efficient administration of the projects. The Projects Officer works very closely with the project leaders in ensuring efficient provision of information regarding project timing and reporting as well as dissemination of project information to various stakeholders. The Projects Officer also provides project administrative support to any other projects within CIAT Africa.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Developing and communicating procedures, guidelines, templates, checklists for sub-contracting and for regular project reporting to the project leaders and the donors.
  • Developing project portfolios with clear project operational guidelines, including guidelines for close- out.
  • Assisting in compiling donor reporting while complying to donor reporting guidelines templates.
  • Following up with Lead Institutions and partners in the project to ensure smooth flow of project paperwork.
  • Provide support to the organization of project functions such as planning meetings and steering committee Meeting.
  • Maintaining the pipeline of concept papers and proposals for research areas represented in CIAT Africa.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • Masters degree in Administration, Social Sciences, or Development Studies and a post-graduate diploma in Project Management.
  • Minimum of three (3) year experience in project management.
  • Excellent knowledge of database applications, spreadsheets, word processing, MS office applications, and ability to learn new applications quickly.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, but also participate as a team member in accomplishment of duties.
  • A positive attitude and strong administrative service orientation.
    Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, good judgement and a high level of respect for confidentiality.
  • Willingness to travel in the region.
  • Knowledge of MS Project.
  • Knowledge of French will be an added advantage.
