Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) and the direct supervision of the
Senior Operations Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for carrying out duties related to the operational activities of the IOM Mission in Kampala.
·         Be responsible for logistical arrangements for refugees travel including obtaining relevant clearances from Office of the Prime Minister, Uganda Police and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
·         Provide assistance to the refugees during their travel to/from refugee settlements; assist with accommodation and ensure timely logistical arrangements of buses with approved transportation companies during the overall refugee resettlement processing such as interview selection, medical screening, cultural orientation and departures of refugees.
·         Coordinate the Cultural Orientation programme and liaise with partner agencies on programme specific requirements. Coordinate with the trainers in scheduling of classes, trainings and time keeping.
·         Review operational procedures and streamline/clarify as necessary in coordination with the Senior Operations Officer.
·         Plan and implement internal transportation strategies related to the orderly movement of the Mission’s refugee and migrant caseload.
·         Ensure the physical safety and security of refugees including but not limited to: logistical arrangements, transportation, accommodation, etc.
·         Provide regular updates on operational activities in the field as needed.
·         Perform any other duties as required.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
·         Completed a University degree from an accredited academic institution, with experience in organizing ground/air movement particularly in remote locations and knowledge of refugee migration related issues, liaising government authorities
·         At least 2 years of progressively responsible experience with a national or international organization
·         Thorough knowledge of English and Kiswahili.
