MTN Uganda is the leading Telecommunications Company in Uganda, providing payphone, fixed lines, fax/data, Internet and Mobile Services. MTN is currently expanding and seeks to recruit a competent individual to fill the vacant position of Advertising Manager based in Kampala.
Job Summary:
  • To maintain MTN Uganda’s brand and market leadership through execution of the Company’s communication strategy.
  • The job holder’s primary role is to drive (through the advertising agency) the communication/advertising development process with the objective of achieving MTN’s brand communication targets.
  • The incumbent also participates in the development of the company’s brand communication road map and is consulted on calendar planning decisions.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Day to day management of the advertising agency including agency briefing, tracking, alignment and executional responsibilities.
  • Implement segment marketing plans plus management of the activity calendar including budget management.
  • Create and maintain a dynamic and consistent brand positioning, image and presence within the market; guided by MTN brand CI principles, framework and architecture.
  • Establish short, medium and long term brand communication objectives.
  • Conceptualize and execute end to end communication in line with the brand’s strategy, positioning and essence across all media and channels including but not limited to events, TV, print, radio and digital spaces.
  • Make brand MTN tangible by giving expression to its positioning statement and essence.
  • Implement strategy through planning and pursuing consistent executional excellence.
  • Regulating content of all MTN media properties to ensure effective delivery of brand messages and initiating corrective action where necessary.
  • Monitor and manage agency performance in accordance with set guidelines and budgets.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reviews – focused on brand (positioning, awareness, affinity and presence).
  • Manage the communication development process guided by market/research insights and the department/agency briefing process.
  • Recommend concepts in line with MTN CI and desired objectives as specified in briefs.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
  • A business degree with a bias to marketing and/or communications,
  • 3 -4 years marketing and advertising management experience.
  • Must have perspective of MTN global brand structure and CI rules.
  • Must possess proven operational experience in an FMCG or advertising agency environment.
  • Must be able to think creatively and provide innovative communication solutions.
  • In-built character trait of a positive attitude and the ability to follow-through and get the job done.
  • Team player, resilient & prepared to work extended hours.
  • Communication, organizational, inter-personal and co-ordination skills.
  • Must be organized and process oriented, a strong sense of attention to detail is a critical requisite.
