Reports To: Executive Officer
Job Purpose: The incumbent will provide legal advisory services and drafting of legal documents.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
· Advising on Agreements, Contracts including drawing and reviewing legal instruments to which the Bank is a party
· Researching on and monitoring amendments to existing legislation and the passing of new legislation and advising on their implications to the Bank.
· Proving legal advice as and when shall be required on various matters arising out of the day-to-day operations of the Bank.
· From time to time carry out searches and other forms of legal due diligence at various registries including lands and companies registries.
· Handing debt recovery in liaison with receivers, auctioneers ,external legal counsel etc.
· Handling the registration of securities and legal documents prepared in connection with the loan documentation process.
· Researching and preparing legal briefs for the Bank Secretary on various matters.
· From time to time, serve as secretary to committees of which he/she shall be appointed.
· In liaison with the Bank secretary and external counsel, oversee the resolution of all cases involving the Bank .
· Serving as a secretary to departmental meetings and other committee meetings.
· Attestation of documents and witnessing of the same on behalf of the Bank.
· Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the Bank Secretary from time to time.
Qualification, Skills and Experience:
· A honours Degree in Law plus a post graduate Diploma in Law.
· A minimum of 5 years cognate in a financial institution.
