About SAA/SG2000:
SAA/SG2000 is a non-profit non-governmental international organization that promotes demonstration and widespread adoption of improved pre and post-production agricultural technologies for smallholder farmers in Uganda in collaboration with relevant government institutions, farmers’ organizations and the private sector.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
·         Support the Thematic Coordinator in developing and implementing a country-specific extension program to promote improved postharvest technologies and develop agro-processing enterprises;
·         Analyze the economic and technical feasibility of post-production technologies to be promoted , develop training manuals and operation guides for the technologies;
·         Promote labor and time saving technologies that reduce losses and generate income;
·         Develop and implement training programs for farmers/agro-processors, machine fabricators and service providers on fabrication, use and management of improved technologies;
·         Provide guidance and feedback among thematic colleagues and to partners from other agencies, on technology selection and impact through demonstrations, meetings and written activity reports;
·         Prepares periodic (quarterly, semester and annual) technical reports in collaboration with Thematic Coordinator;
·         Any other related duties assigned.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
·         B.Sc.     in     Postharvest     Management,     Agricultural Engineering, Food Science and Nutrition or in any other related field;
·         A    minimum    of    at    least    5    years    of    relevant    experience    in agricultural extension is an added advantage.
·         Very good oral, analytical, writing and presentational skills;
·         Computer literacy is a MUST.
·         Proven ability to work in multi-disciplinary and multi-stakeholder working environments.
·         A Masters degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
