About URC:
University Research Co., LLC (URC), a US-based public health organization working in Uganda since 2005, is implementing the USAID-funded Strengthening Uganda’s Systems for Treating AIDS Nationally (SUSTAIN) project. The project supports delivery of quality HIV prevention, treatment, care and laboratory services at selected referral and general hospitals. URC is seeking qualified candidates for the following positions based in Kampala at SUSTAIN offices (unless stated otherwise):
Job Summary: The Job holder will be responsible for the integration of nutritional assessment, counseling, and support (NACS) into HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and treatment services. The officer will work closely with the Care/Treatment and PMTCT Advisors to plan for and implement improvement interventions aimed at bettering nutritional outcomes among people living with HIV and AIDS as well as promoting optimal infant and young child feeding practices, as per the national guidelines.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
·         Coordinate service provider skills strengthening support in the areas of nutritional assessment, counseling support as well as infant and young child feeding.
·         Work with hospital teams to apply quality improvement methods for improved outcomes in nutrition.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
·         A degree in medicine (MBChB) or equivalent from a recognized institution and a post-graduate qualification in Nutrition
·         At least three years experience in HIV programs in Uganda, preferably in the area of nutrition
·         Clinical experience in care and treatment of HIV will be of added advantage
·         Demonstrated ability to strategically plan and manage the successful implementation of activities.
·         Effective communication skills and ability to establish good working relationships with Government officials, international organizations and local partners.
·         Willingness to travel extensively within the country
