About Uganda Virus Research Institute:
The Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) has signed an MoU with the U.S Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to strengthen Institute capacity through the management and coordination of laboratory surveillance, epidemiology, public health evaluations and training in Uganda under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief. Under this cooperation, UVRI intends to recruit the following personnel on a one year contract to be renewed depending on availability of funds.
Job Purpose: The primary purpose of this role is to maintain compliance with quality systems at program level.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinates External Quality Assurance programs for HIV and OI testing (serology, immunological, haematological etc) for peripheral testing sites in the country
- Ensures compliance with requirements of the relevant EQA schemes
- Assists in prompt handling of quality records and review of records
- Communication with key program sections in order to ensure appropriate actions are taken, decisions made and records are correctly and consistently maintained in line with GMP
- Ensures that any concerns regarding data quality are drawn to the attention of appropriate staff including QA management
- Undertakes work related to job objectives as directed by QA management.
- Works closely with the National Quality Assurance Coordinator
- Minimum of a Bachelors degree in a Biological Science or related field.
- Applicants must have knowledge of good laboratory practice.
- Competence in MS Office, particularly Word and Excel is desired;
- Trackwise experience would be useful.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills are desirable.
