About URC:
University Research Co., LLC (URC), a US-based public health organization working in Uganda since 2005, is implementing the USAID-funded Strengthening Uganda’s Systems for Treating AIDS Nationally (SUSTAIN) project. The project supports delivery of quality HIV prevention, treatment, care and laboratory services at selected referral and general hospitals. URC is seeking qualified candidates for the following positions based in Kampala at SUSTAIN offices (unless stated otherwise):
Job Summary: The Job holder will support the Ministry of Health STD/AIDS Control program to implement and track a National Scale-up Plan for Pediatric and Adolescent HIV services.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Lead evaluation of existing systems for adolescent HIV care, treatment and support
· Guide the development and dissemination of materials related to adolescent HIV/AIDS care and treatment, including policies, clinical guidelines, protocols and training materials.
· Develop standards and guidance for integration of adolescent HIV transition clinics into existing HIV care clinics.
· Support and coordinate implementation of a national pediatric HIV services scale up plan using a Quality Improvement approach
· Assist in ensuring efficient and effective management of pediatric and adolescent HIV at 16 SUSTAIN project supported hospitals
· Contribute to MOH coordination activities for pediatric and adolescent HIV technical presentations
· Develop and implement relevant pediatric and adolescent HIV operational research projects
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
· A Master Degree in Pediatrics and Child Health and /or Public Health from a recognized University/Institution.
· At least 5 years experience in managing HIV programs in Uganda, with at least 3 in the area of pediatric and adolescent HIV services.
· Clinical experience in care and treatment of HIV infected children and adolescents.
· Demonstrated ability to strategically plan and manage the successful implementation of activities.
· Thorough knowledge of international good practices on pediatric and adolescent HIV care and treatment
· Effective communication skills and ability to establish good working relationships with Government officials, international organizations and local partners.
