Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) is an international independent medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters and exclusion from health care. MSF France is recruiting for its HIV/AIDS & TB programme in Arua Regional Referral Hospital.
Job Summary: The Clinical Officer will perform medical clinical duties on a rotational basis in the Arua Hospital AIDS Program (AHAP), TB units (Chest Clinic and Adult Isolation Ward), PMTCT and Nutrition ward.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
·         Provide clinical services to patients living with HIV and/or TB including examinations, prescriptions, record keeping and charting of all necessary information
·         Prescribe ARV’s, TB drugs, OI prophylaxis and other medications to appropriate patients
·         Ensure proper exchange of medical information when transferring TB/HIV co infected patients between units according to MSF/MoH protocols
·         Ensure adherence of patients started on ARV, TB drugs, and OI drugs by providing proper explanation on dosages, administration and effects/benefits
·         Conduct minor medical procedures in effective manner – lumbar punctures, taps, etc. – while utilizing universal precautions with all patients during procedures and examinations
·         Provide thorough, legible documentation of problem list, medication list (including dosages and administration instructions) and plan for each patient seen
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
·         Diploma in Clinical Medicine from a recognised institution
·         Registration with the Allied Health Professionals Council
·         Minimum of 2 years clinical experience, experience with HIV and TB is a plus
·         Good spoken and written English
·         Ability to speak and understand Lugabara, Swahili, Kakwa, Alur, French, Arabic is an additional advantage
·         Ability to work well in a team comprised of people with diverse cultural and disciplinary backgrounds
