Job Purpose: To identify and build strategic partnerships in planning and implementation of Maternal Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) progammes and policies and provide overall management of the project.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Project Management and Coordination
  • Initiate and work with line World Vision (WV) staff and district partners to technically interpret the MNCH technical approaches included in the MNCH Amuru proposal to facilitate implementation of key activities in the project work plan.
  • Make sure that the Internal coordination with other WV projects in the district such as HIV/AIDS, Food security and WASH is strengthened
  • Develop project models to support the role out of MNCH interventions at community level and Area Development Programme (ADP) level.
2. Project Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Facilitate effective monitoring, documentation and reporting, in compliance with agreed standards
  • Ensure World Vision’s institutional learning and experiences in MNCH activities feed into Amuru MNCH’s program development and vice versa.
  • Provide technical supervision to MNCH projects as requested by ADP staff not limited to Amuru MNCH project catchment area.
3. Finance Management
  • Manage project finances and assets in line with WV policy
  • Budget management and control
  • Performance management and supervision
  • Manage, supervise and build capacity of staff in project development, management and implementation.
4. Project Development
  • Provide technical guidance and monitor implementation of MNCH activities including but not limited to: Information, Education and Communication/Behavior Change Communications, Community mobilization and interventions targeting Village Health Teams (VHT).
  • Support the field team to constantly understand and articulate project MNCH strategies to beneficiaries and partners, namely, communities, CBO’s, NGO’s civil society and district officials
  • Provide overall leadership, management and guidance to the development of project designs and Annual Operation Plans of Amuru MNCH project and technical advice to other nutrition projects
5. Network and Collaboration
  • Identify and build strategic linkages, relations, collaborations and networks with other actors to support the district in implementation of MNCH strategies including Malaria and Nutrition programming, community systems strengthening and Health Advocacy
  • Representation and advocacy for WV and other MNCH/nutrition programming at National Level forums
  • Work in cooperation with the Ministry of Health to improve government interventions in the area of MNCH and nutrition.
  • Work with Child Health Now (CHN) Coordinator to integrate CHN activities into the Amuru MNCH project and engage relevant persons and Technical Working Groups (TWG) on the advocacy issues profiled.
6. Documentation and Reporting
  • Timely submission of project reports
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
  • Degree in Nursing, Environmental Health, Public Health or any related discipline.
  • Has experience in working with the Ministry of Health and has in-depth understanding of the workings of the Ministry of Health and Local Governments
  • At least 3 years of technical health project management experience in nutrition programming, preferably focused on maternal, newborn and child health.
  • Has experience in working with communities with good knowledge of Public Health System and structures
  • A mature and committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
