USAID Project Jobs – Quality Improvement Officer – Family Planning

About USAID Project:
The USAID Applying Science to Strengthen and Improve Systems (ASSIST) Project is a new five-year cooperative agreement awarded to University Research Co., LLC and is dedicated to improving health, population and nutrition services through technical support to service delivery institutions, country, Ministries of Health, USAID country missions, and cooperating agencies. The new project carries on the work of the USAID Health Care Improvement Project in global advocacy, development, and promotion of cost-effective methods to design and improve health care services and systems in low- and middle-income countries. USAID ASSIST will align evidence-based interventions in technical content areas such as maternal, newborn and child health, HIV/AIDS, OVC and health workforce – with evidence-based approaches to strengthen and improve systems.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Work with the ASSIST MNCH QI advisors and MOH to support the integration of Family planning (FP) into the HIV clinics using a QI approach in health facilities within the Masaka region.
  • Work with the MOH to support Implementing Partners incorporate QI into Family planning service provision
  • Liaise with Technical FP implementing partners to identify technical gaps in provision of the integrated services.
  • Work with the QI advisors to build capacity of the district teams use QI approach to support facility QI teams integrate FP services within the HIV clinic setting
  • Support facility QI teams to identify gaps in provision of integrated FP/HIV care, regularly collect and use data to improve uptake of FP methods within the HIV clinics
  • Prepare materials for training both at the facility, and district level.
  • On a regular basis conduct peer to peer learning sessions for the facility teams to enhance spread of good practices.
  • Conduct research on FP integration into HIV programs
  • Write and share reports on the implementation of the integration of FP into HIV care and treatment programs.
  • Liaise with the Knowledge management team to document success stories about the improvement interventions
 Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Medicine or a related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in Family planning program.
  • Experience in working in HIV clinic settings
  • Knowledge of Quality Improvement approaches is strongly desired.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills and experience working with other implementing partners
  • Good analytical skills
  • Willingness to travel and spend over 50% of their time in the field
  • Familiarity with USAID regulations is desired.
