Job Title: Senior Officer Keep it Real (03 positions)
Reports to: Keep it Real Program Specialist North
Duty Stations: 02 Gulu and 01 Kampala.
About Save the Children’s Keep it Real Project:
Keep it Real is a youth-centered in and out of schools Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) approach that offers integration of SRHR and HIV/AIDS information in a non-disease focused environment.
Starting from the realities of young people, acknowledging different sexual identities and practices will solicit mutual respect for reproductive choices of young people.
The project seeks to expand information on sexual and reproductive rights challenge the socio-cultural and political contexts which are not conducive for young people, especially girls, to claim their sexual and reproductive rights, nor have they built skills to be able to do so.
The project’s CSE activities are mainly centered around:
- Coordination at a variety of administrative levels through CSE working groups, ensuring gender sensitive youth participation;
- Expand the use of tested materials with younger and older adolescents, both in and out of school;
- Strengthen linkages with health services and in and out-of-school groups Save the Children seeks to fill the following vacant positions and applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced Persons.
Job Purpose:
- The Job holder will contribute to the achievement of SRHR strategic project objectives in SCI Uganda.
- The job holder will contribute to Save the Children’s capacity to implement the Comprehensive Sexuality Education as a means of improving Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health/ and Rights at the field level working closely with project implementing partner Interventions at School/ Community Levels.
- The Senior Officer may be called upon as and when necessary to support the emergency team in cases of humanitarian crisis.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a Health related field, Demography or Social Science, Development Studies or related field or equivalent accrued working experience, with skills and experience in Child Health and Nutrition programming
- A minimum of three years working experience in the related discipline in Uganda (preferably with a NGO).
- Ability to speak local language (Luo or Luganda as may be applicable) and directly interact with target group will be an added advantage
- General specifications applicable to all positions:
- Experience of working with local partners and District Local Government in Health, Education, HIV/AIDS or Child Protection program delivery
- Strong analytical skills and strategic planning abilities.
- Ability to establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team.
- Willingness to travel and work in hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.
- Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills are a must.
- Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses.
- Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
- Ability to intervene with crisis management or troubleshooting as necessary.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching
- Excellent time management and planning capacity
- Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses.
