Job Title: Head of Counseling
Reports to: Adherence and Social Welfare Manager

Job Summary: The position holder will be responsible for managing and coordinating the counseling services of Mildmay Uganda to patients and their families, and providing professional and managerial leadership to the counseling team.
He/ she will also ensure provision of counseling technical support for Ministry of Health Systems strengthening and to the different programmes undertaken by Mildmay Uganda.
About Mildmay:
Mildmay Uganda is an HIV/AIDS treatment and training centre also providing Health Systems Strengthening to scale up comprehensive HIV/AIDS Services in 16 districts of Central Uganda. Situated on Entebbe Road, Lweza, south of Kampala, Mildmay Uganda is seeking applications from experienced and motivated people interested in a rewarding career undertaking the challenging roles.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
·         Bachelors degree plus Masters Degree in Counselling, or Clinical Psychology or any other health-related qualification.
·         S/he must have at least 4 years’ practical experience in HIV and AIDS counselling, including the counselling of children and adolescents plus 1 year of supervising staff.
·         S/he must have demonstrable knowledge and experience in HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment; HIV/AIDS counselling guidelines as well as knowledge of Ministry of Health systems
·         Good communication and interpersonal skills.
·         Proficiency in various MS office packages and working knowledge of English and local language(s) are crucial.
·         Hard working, trust-worthy, and holding the highest levels of integrity and confidentiality.
·         Must be flexible, reliable, able to work under pressure; and in sympathy with the Christian values of Mildmay Uganda.
·         Evidence of a non-judgemental approach regarding race, religion, culture, sexuality and lifestyle is critical.
