Telecom Jobs – Property and General Legal Advisor at UTL

Reports to:Chief Legal Counsel and Corporate Affairs Officer

Location: Kampala, Uganda
Key Duties and Responsibilities
·         Leading a team of property and general legal experts in implementing the Uganda Telecom strategy within a framework agreed by the Chief Corporate Affairs & Communications Officer, which meets requirements for creating and delivering shareholder value
·         Leading a team of general legal experts in creating a successful Property and General Legal Advice Unit which meets investors’ requirements for profitability
·         Explaining Uganda Telecom’s property and general legal advice strategy to key stakeholders and ensuring that it drives operational management.
·         Maintaining effective commercial relationships with Government, regulatory and competition authorities, ensuring that the Uganda Telecom position is well represented and fully understood.
·         Developing a highly productive, skilled and motivated workforce, created through the adoption of best-in-class human resources practices and employee communications.
·         Using relevant metrics and measures to routinely monitor progress against targets and take appropriate managerial action to ensure that all targets are met or exceeded.
·         To continuously evaluate the output of operational process for performance improvement and to ensure process adherence
·         Carry out acceptance and commissioning tests of power and air-conditioning equipment to ensure that the equipment conforms to the specifications.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
Applicants Must Have:
·         5 years business leadership of a large property and general legal affairs department
·         Law degree and a practicing Diploma from LDC
·         Corporate membership of a professional legal body
·         Experience with telecommunications and ICT sectors
