AIDS was established following a request in 1988 from the Uganda Government to
the British Government for collaboration on the research of HIV (Human
Immunodeficiency Virus) infection and AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency. The Unit
is a center of excellence in HIV/AIDS related research. It conducts large-scale
epidemiological and intervention studies, clinical trials, virological and
immunological research and behavioural studies, clinical trials” virological

of research results that have been used to inform policy and practice, and that
have led to a large number of scientific publications in peer reviewed journals
overtime. The Unit is based at Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) in
Entebbe and invites applications from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill

Unit Pharmacist.
- Day
to day dispensing of drugs including Investigational Products (IP) - Monitoring
drug/IP stocks and timely preparation of orders - Monitoring
drug/IP expiry - Developing
and maintaining pharmacy SOPs. - Maintaining
Drug/IP integrity, storage, emergency transfer, disposal and accountability. - Documentation
of all Drug / IP management processes - Temperature
and humidity monitoring - Routine
and preventive maintenance of pharmacy equipment e.g. fridges, freezers, safety
cabinets etc - Other
duties as assigned by Unit Pharmacist.
- Diploma
in pharmacy. - Other
relevant training in public health, research methods, ICH/GCP will be an added
advantage. - Experience
in a clinical trial setting will be an advantage. - Comprehensive
and current understanding of common pharmaceutical products. - Understanding
of ICH/GCP guidelines for human research. - Computer
literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. - Good
communication skills and customer care orientation.
