Job Title: Operations Manager
Reports To: Secretary Manager
Job Purpose: Plan, coordinate, monitors and reviews the SACCO’s savings and lending processes/ procedures and account for resources in line with business plan, policies and set targets.
Masindi District Farmers Association-SACCO (MADFA) Sacco is seeking for a suitable candidate to fill the position of Operations Manager
Duties & Responsibilities
Implement policies, procedures and internal controls at the SACCO in line with the manuals; Ensure that the targets agreed with the board and management are reached at;
  1. Develop the annual SACCO business plans. Evaluating the performance of loan, savings portfolio mix and generating periodic reports in line with the SACCO guidelines and the SACCO targets.
  2. Monitoring the SACCO’s savings and credit growth in line with the set performance targets, monitor and evaluate performance of assigned portfolio for savings and credit officers in terms of growth, in accordance with set targets.
  3. Decide on all operational issues within the framework of existing regulations and SACCO Management decisions;
  4. Co-chair the SACCO Credit Committee (BCC) and participate in evaluating, approving, or rejecting loans according to the level of discretion; «
  5. In consultation with the manager, plan personnel capacity, selecting new staff and evaluating existing staff in accordance with Management; Ensure that the SACCO staff maintain very high morale and adequate and updated training;
  6. Work with other Managers and all other members of the SACCO to plan with and initiate promotional measures within the target markets of the SACCO

  8. Attend monthly SACCO Managers meetings, engages in team problem solving, works together on overlapping tasks, and provides back-up support to the other as needed.
  9. Review, coordinate, monitor and authorize all the processes of opening, transfer and closure of all accounts in line with the SACCO policies/ procedures. Conduct field visits and carry out verification of savings, loans outstanding and resolve client queries and complaints to improve the SACCO’s portfolio growth.
  10. Planning and organizing, documents,- proceedings of the loan approval, recovery committee meetings, establishing authenticity and completeness, in line with the SACCO lending policy.

Special / Personal Abilities:
  • Determined personality with initiative, perseverance and the ability to motivate and manage a team, capable and willing to take responsibility, highly developed sense of reliability and correctness, good knowledge on economic and financial topics and sufficient experience in the operational business of MFIs and Saccos, be a good trainer, facilitator, mentor, and coach, very good communication skills, excellent marketing skills.
  • University degree in Economics, Accounting, Business Administration or any other business – related field, with proven working experience of at least 3 years in an MFI, Sacco operations or any financial institution.
