Job Title: Social and Behaviour Change Communications Advisor – Nutrition (01 position)

Save the Children is a partner on the Strengthening Partnerships, Results and Innovations in Nutrition Globally (SPRING) a five-year cooperative agreement funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). SPRING’S overarching vision is to prevent stunting, and work with women and children on reducing anemia. To meet its mandate, SPRING will provide technical assistance to accelerate action on nutrition policies; build the capacity of countries to design, and implement nutrition programs at scale with a focus on sustained social and behaviour change; build the evidence base for multi-sectoral, nutrition-centered approaches; and evaluate the effective delivery of a core package of high impact nutrition interventions. SPRING will support the establishment of new standards for nutrition programming, and will contribute to the global learning agenda by testing promising innovations and documenting country-specific experiences. These actions will be undertaken in partnership with a range of actors at global, regional, and national levels, with a particular focus on the community. SPRING will strengthen, design, and Implement quality country programs and build on field experience and research activities to improve and expand the evidence base, methods, and global standards for nutrition programming.

Duties & Responsibilities:
· The Social and Behaviour Change Communications Advisor-Nutrition will be responsible for providing overall guidance and technical support for the development and implementation of a community-based social and behaviour change strategy and related country activities focused on preventing malnutrition in the community under the SPRING/Uganda nutrition project
· The Advisor will take the lead in developing and implementing activities that lead to a strengthened community-based nutrition approach in Uganda in the districts covered by this project.
· The SBCC Advisor will work closely with the other Advisors and the Country Program Manager in carrying out this role.
· The SBCC Advisor will directly manage a staff of three SBCC and Community Mobilization Specialists.
· The SBC Advisor reports to the Program Manager.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
· A minimum of a Masters’ degree in Communications for Social and Behaviour Change or closely related fields coupled with program-level field experience.
· At least 7 years of experience in implementing community-based or related programs required.
· Experience working in and leading social and behaviour change communications programs for nutrition preferred.
· Degree in nutrition a plus.
· Excellent English written and oral communication skills and demonstrated ability in developing effective tools and materials for field use.
· Demonstrated ability to initiate and manage significant technical activities, including designing assessments, implementing qualitative research, identifying and collaborating with partners, and managing implementation of nutrition SBCC Interventions.
· Self-initiating. Ability to effectively work independently and If needed outside of conventional office environments.
· Ability to work effectively in a team consisting of people with different technical backgrounds and with varying levels of technical training.
· Experience working in a global project environment requiring flexibility and openness to work with external technical assistants preterm].
· Demonstrated managerial, supervisory and interpersonal skills, including the ability to facilitate relationships, interact smoothly and effectively with clients and colleagues, and mentor junior technical staff.
· Computer literacy skills – MS Office applications, Word, Excel. PowerPoint. Spread sheets
