LWF Uganda received funding from the European Commission ( ACP-EU Energy Facility) with the aim of increasing access to energy efficient stoves among rural households in Northern Uganda and enhancing local reforestation efforts to ensure the sustainability of trees as an energy source.
- Assists the Sub Program Manager in planning, coordinating, implementing, supervising, monitoring and evaluation of all the project activities within the agro-forestry/environment sector as per the project document and budgets;
- Develops strategies to integrate the agro-forestry/environment sector activities into the sub program, in accordance with the established LWF/WS program policies, guidelines and procedures;
- Liaises and consults regularly with the relevant local authorities, community leaders, civil society/non-governmental organizations, collaborating/implementing partners, and other stakeholders where appropriate, in conjunction with the Project Manager, in relation to the planning, designing and implementation of all the community-based project activities in the agro-forestry/environment sector;
- Coordinates the mobilization of the target beneficiaries using the Rights-Based Approach (RBA) to enable them identify, access and analyze viable agro-forestry/environment sector project activities geared towards self-reliance and sustainability;
- Prepares periodic project work plans and budgets in conjunction with the Sub Program Manager and Project Accountant for the agro-forestry/environment sector and related activities in liaison with other section heads, to ensure appropriate utilization of project resources;
- Requisitions for or initiates procurement of required agro-forestry/environment project items/supplies in line with LWF policies, guidelines and procedures;
- Develops agro-forestry/environment sector monitoring and evaluation tools in conjunction with the Project Manager and uses them to check and report on the progress and quality of completed and on-going agro-forestry/environment project activities to ensure compliance with LWF policies and guidelines;
- Organizes and conducts field research involving data collection for statistical analysis on agro-forestry/environment sector operations, activities and related issues, facilitates monitoring and assessment of project impact on beneficiaries and makes recommendation for appropriate action;
- Supervises the Field Extension Workers and takes appropriate action to ensure efficient and effective performance;
- Prepares and submits agro-forestry/environment sector reports in accordance with the donor reporting templates and requirements
- A University degree in Forestry from a reputable university
- At least two (2) years working in Agro-forestry in a reputable firm or International Non Governmental Organization
- Post-graduate diploma in project planning & management is desirable.
- Computer literacy and proficiency in project planning & management software application
- Certificate in supervisory skills, people management and/or leadership skills is desirable
